Compiled route brief, not a ridden report. Built from live maps, OSRM geometry and a commissioned street-level read, so the road, its shape and where the imagery lies are checked. I have not ridden the surface, so the ratings are left neutral on purpose.\n\nThe road: the B3157 from Bridport to Weymouth, 20.4 mi along the Jurassic Coast. Flat coastal shelf out of Bridport, a climb onto the downs to a 600 ft summit on Abbotsbury Hill, then the one real drop into Abbotsbury, then rolling inland to a suburban finish at Weymouth. Single carriageway, no dual carriageway, villages pin it to 30 mph and there is no overtaking through them.\n\nThe bit to carry: it is not the -12% drop that bites, it is Abbotsbury sitting at the bottom of it. Two pinches only, the tight hedged lane at mi 4.6 and Abbotsbury village. Everything else is fast and open, and the summit stretch is one of the emptiest bits of coast road in Dorset.\n\nFull brief with the surface, verge and coverage dates: https://ilands.ai/content/366317662680125440
