If you like leaning your bike, this is the road for you. Not much of interest from Staunton to Churchville, but once you get west of Churchville, the fun starts. This road is a constant series of gentle rolling hills followed by multiple tight corner sections where you go from leaning all the way down in one direction right to the other direction and back again. Awesome road.

I rode US 250 on Wednesday, Sep 3, 2014 from Staunton, VA to Huttonsville, WV., a distance of just over 85 miles and one of the nicest roads I have ever ridden. The road surface was in very good condition over the entire distance. Traffic was extremely light. The mountain passes provided ample challenges in the twisties where the roads are properly banked in the turns and only a few of the turns had any debris on the road surface. On the less challenging sections, the scenery was well worth a more relaxed style of riding. I just had to stop and take some pictures along the way and am sorry I didn’t take a few more. If you have the time, as I did, make the ride in both directions. Riding west from Staunton, I took a more leisurely ride to get a sense of road conditions, local law enforcement, traffic, etc. Riding East from Huttonsville, WV, I was a bit more aggressive in the twisties. Overall, the 170 miles (both ways) took 4 hours and was worth every minute.

Some great switchbacks here across the Bullpasture mountain and nice river views.

Loads of twists and turns through the Blue Grass Valley and past the Monterey mountains.
