Barcelona, Spain - Looking for local knowledge & route advice.
My wife and I are visiting Spain for the 1st time and we have carved out 1 day on a motorcycle starting from Barcelona. We will be riding two up and need a great route with great destinations.
We are staying in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Our current plan is: Ride the coast north to the lighthouse at Calella;. Continue North to Castell de Tossa de Mar; Leave the coast and head to the Catedral de Girona in the town of Girona; Finishing back in Barcelona on the same day.
If you have local knowledge of the area, we would greatly appreciate your advice on routes and attractions. The more detail the better!!! GPX tracks would be ideal. We are planning on riding 200-250 miles (300 - 400 km) and allowing time for sightseeing.
We are not tied to our route, but from 5,000 miles away it looks good on Google maps :-).
Thanks In Advance for any help!!!
You have picked a fantastic destination, i dont think you'll be disappointed.
A while back a friend of mine wanted to rent a bike in Barcelona and go riding for one day.
I spent a few hours putting together a route consisting of as many of the most scenic routes and my personal favourites in the area as i could manage :)
After i had finished, i posted the route on BBR here:
One day Motorcycle ride route from Barcelona
Probably others will also have suggestions but i think this a really great base route for you to use.
Have a great trip!
I am not sure my wife is up for that long of a ride and she will want to take in more cultural sites.
Here is a link to: My Route. Are there any must see sites you could recommend?
Last year we've been in south Spain, Andalusia and rent a motorcycle with Hispania Tour, they also have a branch in Barcelona.
We had great service, I recommend them.
After you contact them just say what you want to visit they will build a route for you or they have some already done.
A great place would be Monteserrat that is a monastry in the mountains.
Get in touch with them you should not be disappointed.
By the way we are going back this year with them in Portugal.
Just want to tell you that we were on our own and it will be the same in Portugal, that's what they call the self guided tour.
