North Inishowen

Ulster (ROI) > Ierland > Europa
Oktober 1, 2013 - 4 ster route classificatie Motorritten4.0
This route starts at Loughs Agency on Victoria Road (the A5) in Londonderry. Visit the free aquarium and visitors centre to learn more about the sea life of the coastline you are about to ride!

The run follows Lough Foyle, a beautiful enclosed bay leading off the Atlantic Ocean. These waters are farmed for mussels and oysters plus providing a natural shelter for a deep sea fishing fleet - there is a sea food restaurant in Greencastle at the mouth of the lough.

A good road takes the biker to Redcastle. Then "not so good" roads... but okay!

Ride across the mountain to the quaint village of Culdaff with its surf beaches and the pier at Bunagee.

The road winds over a ridge to another harbour at Glengad and thence to Malin Pier (not to be confused with Malin town).

Try the most northerly pint in Ireland at Farren's Bar or eat at the Seaview Tavern (locally known as Vera Doc's).

A great run - spectacular scenery, a road that works the body, an unexplored place... !

The rocky islets off Malin are the Garvan Isles. Beyond is Inishtrahull, the most northerly piece of he Irish archipelago.

Greenore and Medieval Carlingford

Ulster (ROI) > Ierland > Europa
September 23, 2013 - 4 ster route classificatie Motorritten4.0
Beautiful coastal ride! The road between Newry and Carlingford squeezes betwixt sea and mountain and then the country widens out as the road sweeps around towards Dundalk. Carlingford village has nestled on the shores of the eponymous sea lough since Norman times. The narrow streets peppered with the ruins of castles (yes, plural - there are several in a small space!) are delightful to wander - never failing to delight (even \'bikers!). Consider a stopover - lovely restaurants and interesting pubs, often with live folk music. Greenore owes its origins to the railway companies, built as a railhead for the service connecting with passenger ferries bound for Holyhead in Wales. This place - with its terraced, brick streets - looks like a tiny piece of Liverpool transposed to County Louth!

Malin Head

Ulster (ROI) > Ierland > Europa
September 19, 2013 - 4 ster route classificatie Motorritten4.0
Malin Head is the most northerly point on the island of Ireland. A great destination for a challenge \'bike run - you can\'t go any further! Spectacular views across to the Scottish islands and to the uninhabited island of Inishtrahull, 6 miles to the northeast. Beautiful seascape - this is the north Atlantic, after all! The waters off Malin were the battleground in two world wars - U boats, Allied aircraft, convoy protection battleships etc - a spectacular number of wrecks lie off here. Visit the Sea View Tavern for a coffee overlooking Inishtrahull Sound (a submarine trench drops to 90 metres depth)visist this website : www.loughs-agency.org/discover/activities/motorcycling-test

N56 Letterkenny to Donegal

Ulster (ROI) > Ierland > Europa
Maart 2, 2011 - 3 ster route classificatie Motorritten3.0
A nice run out to get a taste of County Donegal. Road surface alternates from the best you have ridden to the worst you have ridden, with nothing in-between. Fill up with fuel when you can! Plenty of interesting places to stop and diversions to take. Stunning views of Mt Errigal on route. Beware of sheep and turf tractors.
